The Doctor of Education is a professional doctorate that requires the completion of coursework units and a thesis. It is oriented towards the enhancement of professional practice and is designed to focus on applied investigation and problem solving.

The Doctor of Education (site is accessible to QUT staff and students) program has study schools and a blend of face-to-face and online learning, and is organised as a cohort of 12-15 candidates.

Applicants must possess a four-year education degree or its equivalent with first-class or second-class Honours division A or a master's degree in education or in a field relevant to the professional doctorate in education, AND two years practice in a position of professional responsibility in education or a closely related field.
