The Cognition and Creativity program focuses on advancing knowledge Associate Professor Carmel Diezmannof the cognition and creativity of individuals, groups and organisations primarily in the priority areas of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education.

This program is based on the assumption that in a rapidly changing world:

  • Effective cognition and a creative orientation are fundamental to learning and problem solving
  • All citizens need to be mathematically, scientifically and technologically literate
  • There is a need to develop sufficient high level capability in society in mathematics, science, and technology
  • Individuals need to be educated for roles as creator, innovators and leaders
  • Curriculum and educational practices should reflect creative and innovative approaches to learning and should be evidence based.
