This program engages in integrated, multi-disciplinary, cross-faculty research and consultancy activities that focus on the advancement of knowledge in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering/ design, and technology from a sociology of knowledge viewpoint.
The major aims of the program are to:
- Engage in internationally recognised research that advances:
- Knowledge about learning in these fields
- Student participation levels of learning in these fields
- Knowledge about the impact that knowledge in these fields have on culture and society
- Construction of integrated knowledges in mathematics, science, engineering/design and technology
- Engage in consultancies that:
- Proselytise the significance of knowledge advancement in these fields for the economical and sociological wellbeing of our society
- Improve the teaching, learning and assessment of knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering/design and technology at all levels
- Address knowledge needs of industry and commerce
- Advance the mathematical, scientific and technological literacies of the community
- Result in the dissemination/commercialisation of research outputs from the program
- Engage research training that:
- Develops the next generation of researchers in these fields
- Advance research methodologies relevant to these field
