This program engages in integrated, multi-disciplinary, cross-faculty research and consultancy activities that focus Dr Rod Nasonon the advancement of knowledge in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering/ design, and technology from a sociology of knowledge viewpoint.

The major aims of the program are to:

  • Engage in internationally recognised research that advances:
    1. Knowledge about learning in these fields
    2. Student participation levels of learning in these fields
    3. Knowledge about the impact that knowledge in these fields have on culture and society
    4. Construction of integrated knowledges in mathematics, science, engineering/design and technology
  • Engage in consultancies that:
    1. Proselytise the significance of knowledge advancement in these fields for the economical and sociological wellbeing of our society
    2. Improve the teaching, learning and assessment of knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering/design and technology at all levels
    3. Address knowledge needs of industry and commerce
    4. Advance the mathematical, scientific and technological literacies of the community
    5. Result in the dissemination/commercialisation of research outputs from the program
  • Engage research training that:
    1. Develops the next generation of researchers in these fields
    2. Advance research methodologies relevant to these field
