Key Tasks

A map of the implementation across Australian of current National Standards. This task will explain the current context of child care, overview the national standards and implementation of the standards across Australia. Long Day Care, Outside School Hours Care, Family Day Care and In-Home Care will be included in the mapping task.

A Literature review of contemporary evidence, research and practice will be prepared. The review will address how quality is assured in non-parental child care systems known for quality outcomes; the processes systems and structures that have been applied to services provision and the net benefits of having quality standards in child care.

Consultation with key stakeholders. Consultations with the defined stakeholder groups - Australian Government and State and Territory Government representatives, parents, service providers, peak bodies/key groups, academics and unions.

The identification of options, costs and benefits for the implementation of systems and processes that assure quality in Australian child care services.
