The University has established research ethics expectations to ensure that research practices at QUT conform to the appropriate external standards. Areas and issues which are relevant to research ethics include human research ethics, animal use, biosafety and genetic manipulation guidelines. QUT researchers are provided with the guidelines, forms and instructions which relate to the University's research ethics arrangements in Research Ethics .

The Faculty of Education has appointed at a research ethics advisor who provides confidential advice to staff and students on integrity in research, research ethics, the responsibilities of postgraduate supervisors and students, and procedures for dealing with allegations of research misconduct within the University (see QUT Code of Conduct for Research ) . Faculty Research Ethics Advisors are appointed by the dean of each faculty and are normally drawn from the senior members of the faculty with a significant record of research experience.
